Refer a Patient
For both patient and physician, treating a non-healing wound is time-consuming, frustrating and can become very expensive. Optimal management of wound healing relies on accurate diagnosis of wound etiology and an interdisciplinary team approach, which is seldom practical for a primary care physician or other busy clinician.
WHAT WE TREAT
At WCC of Escondido we have the expertise to manage all types of chronic, non-healing wounds, including:
Diabetic ulcers
Venous stasis ulcers
Pressure ulcers
Arterial ulcers
Radiation tissue injuries
WHEN TO REFER
Partial thickness wounds often can be treated in the primary care setting. The following types of wounds should be referred to WCC of Escondido.
Poor wound healing after two weeks of standard treatment
Dead or infected tissue
A previous history of poorly-healing ulcers
Vascular compromise (arterial, venous, or lymphatic), diabetes, or other significant medical conditions
