Refer a Patient

For both patient and physician, treating a non-healing wound is time-consuming, frustrating and can become very expensive. Optimal management of wound healing relies on accurate diagnosis of wound etiology and an interdisciplinary team approach, which is seldom practical for a primary care physician or other busy clinician.

WHAT WE TREAT

At WCC of Escondido we have the expertise to manage all types of chronic, non-healing wounds, including:

  • Diabetic ulcers

  • Venous stasis ulcers

  • Pressure ulcers

  • Arterial ulcers

  • Radiation tissue injuries

WHEN TO REFER

Partial thickness wounds often can be treated in the primary care setting. The following types of wounds should be referred to WCC of Escondido.

  • Poor wound healing after two weeks of standard treatment

  • Dead or infected tissue

  • A previous history of poorly-healing ulcers

  • Vascular compromise (arterial, venous, or lymphatic), diabetes, or other significant medical conditions
